The reason I thought to start this blog is actually because of something that happened yesterday, that I NEVER want to forget. I wanted to write it down, but once again couldn't find my journal. Yesterday started like every other weekday in the my life, 2 kids wandered into my room before my alarm went off..I ushered them away saying that the baby wasn't even up and they could go downstairs and play QUIETLY. While I savored a few more moments of sleep. My husband and I are about as not into mornings as one can get yet all 4 of our kids love the mornings. Soon after I sent the kids away my alarm went off, I hit the snooze. Then I heard our 3rd child awake and heading downstairs. Any of you who know her know she can't be left to herself. So, I woke the baby and headed down to face the day. I fed the kids and as I sat with them I avoided as many questions from them as I could, the kids were talking a mile a minute and my brain just wasn't moving that fast yet. Soon after our school day began, like any other with a scripture reading and then we moved on to a book we read daily called, "Leading Little Ones to God." The lesson this day was about seeing God's works all around you and the in the last part the teacher asks the student what around them makes them think of God. Our oldest piped up first, the typical first child..he began a rambling list of animals, and various things in nature that God had created. I then turned to our 2nd born, our sweet, sensitive, Isabella. She, typical to her nature, had to be prompted a bit more. How about you I asked, what around you makes you think about God? Without hesitation she said, "You mommy". Maybe she didn't understand the question I thought. So I dug a little deeper. What do you mean I asked? Well, she started, you take care of all of us, you feed us, you teach us, you help us, and you always love us. Jesus says we are supposed to have a servants heart and serve others, like you serve us our food. I didn't even know what to say! Had I been Christ-like that morning, not in the least. Preston, then seeing his answer had been a bit outdone added a bit of truth to the answer. He said, "but Jesus wouldn't yell at us ever mom." He is right, I may yell too much, and I am just plain grumpy the 1st hour I am up. But, I thought of her sweet answer first thing this morning when I got up...because those little eyes are ALWAYS watching and those little ears are ALWAYS listening.

A little about "us".
My husband and I will have been married for 9 years this July. I guess if there was a quick way to describe our relationship it would be like that song that talks about God blessing the broken road that led me straight to you. That's us in a nutshell! I think back about the ways that God was working in our lives when we were completely ignoring Him. Are we perfect now? NO WAY! But, we are HIS. So many times throughout our relationship I wrongly felt like God had abandoned us or just wasn't really there, we've had hard times like everyone does. It was in those times looking back that He carried us. I had the hardest time about 41/2 years ago when my dad died. My dad was my hero and I was your typical daddy's little girl, even then when I was almost 25 years old. My dad had a way of "fixing" everything and the truth is I really had to grow up when he was gone, he had done a good job of keeping me "the baby of the family". It was after that I felt Gods presence the most of all, I knew he was whispering in my ear saying, "I am a father to the fatherless." I trusted in that because when you can't be any further down, the only place you can look is up. Thanks to this, our whole family is changed.
